Fun Monday - Who Am I?

Ari of Beyond Slab is this week's Fun Monday host. For this Monday's challenge Ari is asking, "If you could click your heels three times, and change lives with any character from any film, who would it be and why?"

I love this topic because this reminds me of many happy moments from my childhood. When I was young in the 1950's, we lived about a half mile from a neighborhood movie theater. Every Saturday afternoon, my older sisters and I were allowed and even encouraged to go to the matinee showing of that week's second run movie. I remember leaving the theater imagining that I was the heroine or female lead whether that was the spunky Lilly in Kiss me Kate or the lovely Nora Bayes in Shine on Harvest Moon. As a child without hesitation, I would have chosen to be Milly played by Jane Powell in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Milly was pretty, had the voice of an angel, and was determined woman. As a teen like many of my friends, I dreamed of being a Southern belle with a tiny waist like the infamous Miss Scarlett.

However, my choice today would be to brave and heroic like the warrior Guinevere played by Keira Knightley in the 2004 rendition of King Arthur. Another inspirational brave lady is Gladys Alyward in The Inn of Sixth Happiness, who was a real-life heroine instrumental in saving 100 some Chinese orphans from the Japanese invaders during World War II by leading the children over difficult mountain trails of war torn China. The bravery and commitment of Gladys Alyward was amazing.

Thanks, Ari for this fantasy excursion. Now, I am off to read about the characters other participants have chosen. This certainly is a fun adventure for a rainy Monday evening.
