I have just awaken in the middle of the night from a dream and thought I'd sit up a while, then I saw this picture. In my dream, I was at the house where I grew up and the floors were just like this. The dream was disturbing because it seemed to be saying my past was in ruins and gone or Lost. I hope they can repair that beautiful church. The actual house I grew up in has been tore down and gone, now just a faint memory, like my youth.
Came here from Captain Corky. Strangely enough, my Wordless Wednesday picture is also religious in nature - it's the outside view of a cathedral spire here in Melbourne Australia.
Oh, that was so tragic. It makes me want to come & restore it to its Gothic glory. I'll be pondering this one all day. Will you share the story with us tomorrow??
the only thing that would have made it perfect would be the anachronistic appearance of something in the middle of the rubble - cell phone, laptop, brittney spears cd, etc.
Milk and Honey - That is the old City Methodist Church
Anglophile and Pat - I hope to share the rest of the story soon.
Furiousball - If you look closely in the center of the picture on the floor, there is perhaps a malt liquor bottle and maybe a picture frame or two. Maybe Brit's picture is in the frame.
I would like to hear your thoughts on this. I have been rolling it around for about two weeks and have changed positions several times, and avoided posting about it for that reason. A church that has lost its congregation can be approached from many different angles. This surely is thought provoking. Hauntingly beautiful picture, Mjd.

I love this. Is it the old Methodist church in GI?
