Who doesn't want to live on a lake? Well, if that is your dream, you would have been ecstatic to wake-up in my neighborhood this morning. We are currently surrounded by water. And no, this is not a lake, these are the rising waters from the stream (drainage ditch) in front of our home. And if the water outside the house were a lake, you might call the water inside the house in the basement...a swimming pool or at least a wading pool. Yet, the situation is better than what we experienced in
August. This time we have power, and if we lose power , we now have a generator to run the sump pump to rid the basement of water. Additionally, the water is currently receding. Finally, our water is a minor inconvenience compared to the damage that Hurricane Ike must be reeking in Texas and other places along the gulf coast.
If you would like to know good news, look at my previous post.

Oh no...what a hassle for you guys but from the sounds of it you're used to this occurrence, I hope this clears soon, big hugs,
gcgal
This looks worse than you were describing on plurk. But good you have power, hope you managed to get everything above the water level in the basement. The last photo was not loading for me for some reason!
Congratulations to your friend on the good news … and my prayers are with you as you cope with the water around your home.
Hugs and blessings,
That's a LOT of water. Do you have a rowboat? Ike looks like a monster storm. I really feel for those people in its path.
I came back for another look at the last photo..water water everywhere. I've just seen pictures on our news channel.
Water ,water every where. And Ike isn't here yet. Right now there is a long band of rain front Texas to here and beon.
IT DOESN'T RAIN I HOAGLAND...............
Whoa! Lotta water on "the blacktop". Sounds like you folks are prepared. We have had so much rain of late it looks like Hawaii here. Green everyplace you look. Only 1 small leak right now. Yippy. Things are looking up. Hope your basement dries out.
Yikes! Looks like the weather we had in June! Stay safe...
Yep it makes me so glad we passed on the house right on the lake and took the one at the top of the hill. We have the views and can walk there but with the benefit of being on higher ground.
I watched that storm by clicking around on the network news ... and heard about the rain that was deluging the mid section of the country.
(and wind, too, it seems?)
I say again, that's a lotta water!
