Memorable Events - Fun Monday

The lovely smiling Sayre is today's Fun Monday host. For this challenge, Sayre is asking us to complete two simple tasks, Fun Monday, challenge is "What was the most touching, wonderful part of Christmas for you this year?AND What was the craziest, stupidest, funniest part this year?"

As I have two young granddaughters, first part of the assignment is easy. The most memorable moments involves these lovely ladies. I am sure that I will always remember of youngest granddaughter holding out her two hands or pointing to indicate that she wants to be held by Grandma or carried around the room by Grandpa. Another sweet memory is our almost four-year old granddaughter greeting us at the door and inviting her grandparents to their home in the most grown-up manner.
For the stupidest and craziest, I would have to say waiting all Christmas Eve afternoon for the cable guy to repair our cable that was downed by a tree limb in a recent ice storm. The cable guy was to arrive between 1:00 - 4:00 PM. The appointed hour came and past without the appearance or word from the repairman. We did receive a call about 4:30 from the man saying that he would be at our home by within 30 minutes. Now of course, we can live without cable, and I do have sympathy for anyone working on a holiday. However, the cable company did set this specific time. But the lateness of the hour was an inconvenience as the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at our church began at 6:00 PM. Additionally, although we are now able to watch our favorite shows, the cable still lies on the ground outside our home. The cable guy did tell us to call the cable company in the spring when the ground thaws to request that the cable be buried. (You can bet that they will hear from us before then.)
The evening did have a wonderful ending. The church service was remarkable, and as usual our pastor gave an outstanding sermon that included a magic trick by a magician from our congregation.

Wow! A magic trick in church! That is a wonderful service. Service these days is not what it used to be. I hope your cable wire gets buried before Spring!

A magic trick during a Christmas service? What a wonderfully cool pastor you must have! I'll bet every kid forced to attend was sitting in rapt attention.

Poor cable guy... I've been the person working the holiday shift more times than I can count (in fact, since I began my working life I can only think of maybe five Christmases I had off). With all the snow and ice, I'm not surprised he was delayed in getting to you. At least he got there.

Don't you just love those little arms reaching for your hugs???

Nothings warms the heart more then the innocence of sweet little grandchildren. Glad you got your cable back, funny what we take for granted. This modern high tech world we live in.

Wonderful Christmas memories. Regarding your cable story, I'm so glad to no longer have cable or dish, you can't believe it. I told my husband they were all too stupid for me to deal with any longer.

Oh yeah. Those grandbabies certainly make Christmas (or anytime) special !
A magic trick at church ? What a great idea.
Now, as for that cable that's down and needs to be buried...I can send AnodeMan over and he can bury it with snow if you want. TeeHeeHee!

You know I totally empathise with you about the memories grandchildren create. Yours sound delightful I can just imagine you being greeted at the door. I do find that my granddaughter who will be 13 next year is not always sweetness and light now the hormones are kicking in!

Missed out on the Eve service this year (two reasons: it was like the north pole here, and we are looking for a new church)

Lucky you -- getting to enjoy your grandkids on Christmas. Or I should have used the words "blessed"

I hate waiting around for people, even when I don't have anyplace to be! I'm glad it worked out and you had such a special Christmas.

I can just see that little granddaughter playing the Christmas hostess to Grandma and Grandpa. And she probably is still not old enough at four to realize what the Grands MAY have in the trunk of the car for them!

Can't believe you all got such weather on Christmas Eve--such a contrast to your southern neighbor. But glad the cable guy didn't keep you from the Christmas service.

All the best to you and your family in '09, Molly.

I can relate to your cable story. I pulled an all-nighter a couple of weeks ago and then had to stay awake to wait for a furniture delivery between 10-2. Of course you know when they showed up.... 2:30.

Hope 2009 treats you wonderfully!

Wow Im amazed that your cable guy even came out on xmas day. We would have had to wait a couple of days down here. Xmas is the only day that is a total holiday with nearly everything being closed. Have a happy new year!

Thaw out the cable...wow, that sure is icy!

A very big YES to the joy of granddaughters. The ice is gone and so are the tree branches that cause the problem with the cable guy. He was actually pretty fast in his work. I think bad management had him come here from too far away.
