Fun Monday - My Cup Runneth Over

Willowtree has offered this assignment for the Fun Monday of May 14, 2007.
So here it is, I would like to see your favourite Coffee Mug. But wait there's more, I'd also like to see your favourite glasses for a) non alcoholic drinks and b) alcoholic drinks. If you want extra credit you could also post your favourite plate. Note I said favourite, not best.

Alas, my favorite coffee cup of all-time is broken. The cup featured artwork of Sandra Boynton. There were cute little mice all over the cup with a cheerful saying "Never Too Many Friends." I do have a substitute coffee cup that is pictured here. This cup is not only pleasing because of the friendly pun inside the rim and the endearing hedgehogs featured in the picture, but the cup keeps my coffee at hot for a long period of time. More massive cups tend to rob the heat from the coffee.

My favorite glass for non-alcoholic drinks is not a glass at all; it is a plastic or if you prefer a plastic drinking glass. In the Daddy D/MJD household, we tend to break things. When we found these glass-looking plastic glasses, a need was filled. We have eight durable drinking glasses that go with our dark blue Fiestaware plates and our bright blue kitchen.

Although I do not drink alcoholic beverages, I do have a favorite wine glass. Daddy D and I won a pair of these tulip-shaped wine glasses in a Romantic Weekend basket at fundraiser for our school corporation. Here is one of our wine glasses with a little nip of fine Australian wine for Daddy D. Finally, the last part of the assignment, is to feature our favorite but not necessarily our best plate. My plate is one that belonged to my mother. She in turn inherited from some relative, or actually I think that she talked a relative out of the plate. Thus, the plate is an antique. I think that this plate is beautiful with the "Flow Blue"delicate blue brambleberries. I like the plate because of the beauty of the design and lovely flowing blue and because my mother left this beauty to me.

Very nice! I really don't have many glasses, not many survived the move a year ago, and I just never got around to replacing them. I love the coffee mug, and the plate.
My fav coffee mug was a Holly Hobbie mug that my dad bought me when I was about 6. My kids accidentally broke it..A friend replaced it yars later, only to have my kids break it yet again...I guess that it just wasn't meant to be!

I absolutely love the plate and the coffee cup unfortunately my connection from camera to computer is not working for a while now; you've put me in mind of what I must do: thank you for both.
Don't tell me it was Californian wine in that glass, though it is a little too early in the morning, it is my favourite: Ernst and Julio Gallo. Cheers

Such a cute mug and that blue and white plate is beautiful; I have a small collection of B&W on display in my hall but I don't think any are this pretty.

Our glasses are a very similar colour!

I love your plate, it is very pretty and has a history to it which makes it more special.

I knew I saw that glass somewhere! Well actually I didn't see that exact glass but Beccy just reminded me where.

I love the mug, it has a good looking rim, looks very comfortable. We've got a couple Sandra Boynton mugs and they are among our favourites as we've had them since we first got married, sadly they have been abused to the point where we can no longer drink from them so they are cupboard pieces now.

Nice plate! Also good to see Daddy D has good taste in wine :)

That is an elegant wine glass.
I wish I'd have something from my mom. I just can't even remember what happened to most of her stuff when she died. I think I was going through some motions..... and it is all a blur.

Love the plate - is beautiful and special because it came from your mom.

I am glad a I participated in Fun Monday - it has given me the chance to find some new blogs to visit.

That wine was very good and that glass is just right for the wine. When that is gone, I hope that they will make more.

I'm wondering if DaddyD's comment was referring to the glass or the wine??? LOL

It's funny how we can get so attached to something like a mug or a beautiful plate...but it seems we all do.

That plate is beautiful!
Dh's great grandma collected salt and pepper shakers, so each of the kids, grandkids, great grandkids, and great-great grandkids got at least one set when she died. I love how heirlooms like that reflect the personality of the person who originally owned them and make you think of them each time you see that item.

We share the same taste in drinking glasses! Your plate is really beautiful but especially nice that it was your mom's. You gave me the bug to play and it was fun. Thanks!

I LOVE your mug! I reminds me of a little pin I used to have, which pictured a porcupine and a pincushion and read, "Everybody loves somebody."

What a great idea! I won't have time to do anything for a while. I am trying to keep up on my blogging, but it's not working very well.

I love the "Flow Blue" shot. Hoop's Mom collects pieces like that one. I love how every single one is unique.

Your mug is so cute. I am a complete klutz and break everything breakable in my apartment. I should stick to plastic, but I love living life on the edge.
