Up, Up, and Away

Sayre of Sayre Smiles is this week's Fun Monday host. The lovely and creative Sayre is asking us to " Take your camera to work and take pictures of the things that inspire you as you work or that inspires your co-workers."
I work at the Clifford Pierce Middle School where I teach science to seventh graders. With our vaulted entrance pointing upward, just walking into our building can be awe-inspiring.

But, what visitors see as they are inside the building is indeed inspirational to our students, staff members, and visitors alike. This huge space shuttle model hangs in the pointed entrance way. The space shuttle, which is 1:10 scale model of Endeavour, was originally constructed by a Cub Scout Pack in a nearby town. The Cub Scouts walked alongside the shuttle in a Fourth of July parade. The shuttle was then donated to the Merrillville Schools and hangs outside our Planetarium, which is the only planetarium in Northwest Indiana that presents group and public program.

The space shuttle is a nice sight hanging there in the air. Its size really makes it something to behold. It was saved from being junked by a school board member.

Bravo to school administration or whatever powers that be for making a place for such a great example of student projects. Is it permanently installed there or will the shuttle move to other locations. Can't believe it may have been junked.

What a wonderful modern school you get to work in. Love the replica of Endeavour, the kids are lucky to have something like that in their school.

Boy it sure didn't look like that when I went to school there! When you add the planetarium to the shuttle, that is pretty awesome.

I ended up posting about an inspirational workplace, and didn't even know it was Fun Monday. Go figure.

What a great place to go to school - or work! Much better than some of the dreary institution looking schools that kids are forced to go to.

That is way way COOL! I love this post. I wish I could take pics of my work, and the things that inspire me, yet so much of it is confidential, patient care etc etc..alot of the things that inspire me are not, in fact, par of the place I am in, as much as it is the people I work with and the people I meet and care for. It is kind of, untouchable inspiration..and I love it :)
