Outside the new door is our front porch. Beyond the porch is an old pond that my husband and I converted to a planter. The dried plants in the planter are a chrysanthemum and some marigolds from last fall. Although the temperature is warm today, spring is making a late arrival to northwest Indiana.

I remember seeing your front porch as a work-in-progress, but I don't think I ever saw the finished product - Love it!
I really like your red door too. Is there some fancy mechanism to keep it from being kicked in as well?
Now that I am contemplating painting my house, I've thought of my front door. After almost 7 years here, I only just realized that my steel front door is primed to be painted but never WAS! Luckily, it doesn't rot the way my front porch posts did - also primed but not painted! Tinted primer fooled me.
We had a door that we never got around to painting at our old house.
There is a four-lock mechanism on the new door, but if the burglers want in, they will fund a way.
Intruders!!! I missed that story.
Red Door -- I see an occasional one and I always wonder the choice - and how it was made.
I wonder if it means the same thing as the red doors of an episcopal church. A fire-engine red door means that the mortgage has been paid off! At least according to my rector...
I thought that the red door went with our decor inside and out, but according to Ask.com "A red door on a house or building can have different meanings. The symbolism of a red door in colonial America was a safe haven. Travelers knew a red door on a home meant they would be welcome and find safety. On churches, red doors symbolize the protection of God. In Feng Shui a red front door means welcome. Front doors are painted red in Scotland to show the mortgage is paid off. In China a red door means welcome and is a symbolism of luck." I like these meanings. (and the house is paid for)
That is a beautiful door. It sounds like red doors are the thing to have. My door is a beautiful indigo blue. :)
